Hyoju Yang is an author and illustrator, born and based in Seoul, South Korea.
She tells quiet, poetic stories that explore identity, emotion, and the subconscious — often through the gentle honesty of graphite.

Though her drawings are in black and white, her lines often carry a sense of humor, whimsy, and deliberate distortion.
Her characters shift in shape and form — often appearing as different people or versions of themselves — echoing the many selves we carry within.

Her debut picture book, Clown, was developed from her dummy book Barbarian,
which was awarded at the 2025 Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrator Exhibition.
Clown is published by Somebooks.

She hopes her stories leave behind quiet questions, and open small spaces for reflection.
